Summary
A flaw was found in Podman. If an attacker can pass a crafted tar archive to the `podman load` command, they can create files on the host machine with the privileges of the user running Podman.
This flaw in Podman allows an attacker to achieve arbitrary file write on the host system. Exploitation requires the attacker to supply a specially crafted OCI archive to the `podman load` command, which then executes with the privileges of the user invoking Podman.
This risk is primarily relevant in environments where untrusted OCI archives are routinely processed by Podman users. Red Hat severity: Moderate — CVSS 5.5 (CVSS:3.1/AV:A/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:L/A:L).
