Summary

OpenBao is an open source identity-based secrets management system. Prior to version 2.5.4, OpenBao's inline auth functionality incorrectly redacted audit log entries, resulting in non-auth headers being removed and auth-related headers being retained in cleartext.

This requires an attacker to compromise access to the audit device. Operators should review leaked source authentication material and rotate it as appropriate.

This is fixed in OpenBao v2.5.4. A flaw was found in OpenBao.

Successful exploitation could lead to the disclosure of sensitive authentication material. OpenBao is packaged for Fedora and EPEL.

Both shipped builds (2.6.1) are newer than the fixed version (2.5.4) for this audit-log redaction flaw and are not affected. Red Hat severity: Moderate — CVSS 4.4 (CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:H/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N).

Weakness: CWE-312.
