Summary

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: cfg80211: enforce HE/EHT cap/oper consistency Xiang Mei reports that mac80211 could crash if eht_cap is set but eht_oper isn't. Rather than fixing that for the individual user(s), enforce that both HE/EHT have consistent elements.

An issue within the mac80211 Wi-Fi subsystem, specifically related to the enforcement of High Efficiency (HE) and Extremely High Throughput (EHT) capabilities and operations, could lead to a system crash.

This vulnerability arises when HE/EHT capabilities are set without corresponding operational elements, potentially allowing a local or adjacent network attacker to trigger a denial of service. Red Hat severity: Moderate — CVSS 5.5 (CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H).

Weakness: CWE-390. Affected Red Hat products: Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10; Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6; Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.

Will not fix / out of support: Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6. Red Hat does not currently list a fixing RHSA for this CVE.

Affected products named by the advisory: Red Hat package: kernel-rt.
