Summary
Calling wordexp with WRDE_APPEND in the GNU C Library version 2.0 to version 2.43 can cause the interface to return invalid memory in the we_wordv member, which on subsequent calls to wordfree may abort the process. A flaw was found in glibc (GNU C Library).
This invalid memory, when subsequently processed by wordfree, may cause the process to abort, leading to a Denial of Service (DoS). This flaw in glibc has Moderate impact, as it can lead to a denial of service.
Exploitation requires an application to specifically call `wordexp` with the `WRDE_APPEND` flag, followed by a `wordfree` call, which can result in a process abort. This vulnerability affects applications that utilize this particular programming pattern.
