Summary
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/amdgpu/jpeg: set no_user_fence for JPEG v2.0 ring JPEG rings do not support 64-bit user fence writes, reject CS submissions with user fences. (cherry picked from commit 96179da0c6b059eb31706a0abe8dd6381c533143) A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's AMD GPU JPEG driver.
An attacker could exploit this by submitting commands with 64-bit user fences, leading to the rejection of command submissions and potentially a denial of service. This vulnerability is rated as Moderate severity because exploitation requires local access on hosts with supported AMD graphics hardware and is limited to causing a denial of service.
Under typical enterprise deployments, server environments do not include discrete AMD GPUs or grant unprivileged users direct access to GPU render nodes.
A local user with permissions to interact with the graphics rendering interface can craft specific command submissions that trigger driver-level submission failures, disrupting GPU video decoding services without compromising host integrity or data confidentiality. Red Hat severity: Moderate — CVSS 5.5 (CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H).
Weakness: CWE-1287. Affected Red Hat products: Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10; Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6; Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.
Will not fix / out of support: Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.
