Summary
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: netfilter: ebtables: module names must be null-terminated We need to explicitly check the length, else we may pass non-null terminated string to request_module().
A local attacker could exploit this vulnerability by providing a specially crafted module name that is not properly null-terminated. This improper string handling could lead to a buffer over-read when the `request_module()` function processes the string.
Successful exploitation could result in information disclosure, allowing an attacker to read sensitive kernel memory, or a denial of service (DoS), causing the system to crash. Red Hat severity: Moderate — CVSS 5.5 (CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H).

Affected products named by the advisory: Red Hat package: kernel-rt.
