Summary
Stack-based buffer overflow in Microsoft Office allows an unauthorized attacker to execute code locally. A flaw was found in console.
The `getCodeSpan` helper in `SharedResourceWarning.js` constructs an HTML string using string concatenation without proper HTML encoding. This unescaped string is then rendered via React's `dangerouslySetInnerHTML`.
While current Kubernetes DNS-1123 name validation prevents immediate exploitation, any future relaxation of this validation or an alternative data source could enable stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) in the hub console. This could allow an attacker to inject malicious scripts into web pages viewed by other users.
This vulnerability is rated as Low impact because Kubernetes DNS-1123 name validation currently prevents the injection of HTML metacharacters, making it not exploitable in Red Hat products today. However, this represents a latent Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) risk in the console that could become exploitable if upstream data source validation is relaxed.
Red Hat severity: Low — CVSS 3.1 (CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:H/UI:R/S:U/C:L/I:L/A:N). Weakness: CWE-79.
Affected Red Hat products: Multicluster Engine for Kubernetes; Red Hat Advanced Cluster Management for Kubernetes 2. Red Hat does not currently list a fixing RHSA for this CVE.
