Summary

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mtd: virt_concat: fix use-after-free in mtd_virt_concat_destroy_joins() mtd_concat_destroy() frees item->concat so calling mtd_virt_concat_put_mtd_devices(item->concat) leads to a use after free. A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's `mtd_virt_concat` module.

This use-after-free vulnerability occurs when the `mtd_concat_destroy()` function frees memory before it is no longer referenced by `mtd_virt_concat_put_mtd_devices()`. An attacker could potentially exploit this flaw to cause memory corruption, which may lead to a denial of service or other impacts on system stability.

Red Hat severity: Moderate — CVSS 4.1 (CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:H/PR:H/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H). Weakness: CWE-825.
