Summary

A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's Controller Area Network (CAN) ISO-TP (isotp) module. This vulnerability arises from a race condition where the `isotp_release()` function can cancel a timer while it is still actively being used by `isotp_rcv()`.

This can lead to a use-after-free condition, which a local attacker could exploit to cause a denial of service or potentially achieve arbitrary code execution within the kernel. Red Hat severity: Moderate — CVSS 7 (CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:H/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H).

Weakness: CWE-367. Affected Red Hat products: Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10; Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.

Red Hat does not currently list a fixing RHSA for this CVE.

Affected products named by the advisory: Red Hat package: kernel-rt.
