Summary
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: nvme-apple: Prevent shared tags across queues on Apple A11 On Apple A11, tags of pending commands must be unique across the admin and IO queues, else the firmware crashes with "duplicate tag error for tag N", with N being the tag.
Apply the existing workaround for M1 of reserving two tags for the admin queue to A11. This vulnerability occurs when Non-Volatile Memory Express (NVMe) command tags are not unique across the administrative and input/output queues.
An attacker could exploit this by sending specially crafted commands, leading to a firmware crash and resulting in a Denial of Service (DoS) for the affected system. Red Hat severity: Moderate — CVSS 5.5 (CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H).
Weakness: CWE-694. Red Hat lists Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10; Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6; Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7; Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8; Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9 as not affected.
