Summary
A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's Trusted Platform Module (TPM2) session handling. Specifically, the `tpm_buf_append_salt()` function does not properly manage asynchronous cryptographic key operations.
This oversight can lead to a use-after-free vulnerability, where the system attempts to access memory that has already been released. This issue can be automatically triggered during routine system operations, potentially allowing a local attacker to cause a system crash or, in some scenarios, escalate their privileges.
Red Hat severity: Moderate — CVSS 7 (CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:H/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H). Weakness: CWE-825.
Affected Red Hat products: Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10. Red Hat does not currently list a fixing RHSA for this CVE.
