Summary
A flaw was found in the Advanced Linux Sound Architecture (ALSA) System on Chip (ASoC) Sound Open Firmware (SOF) ipc4-control component of the Linux kernel. This Time-of-check to time-of-use (TOCTOU) vulnerability occurs in the `sof_ipc4_bytes_put()` function, where the copy size is incorrectly derived from old buffer data instead of the new incoming data.
This can lead to either truncating valid data or copying stale bytes, potentially resulting in data corruption. Red Hat severity: Moderate — CVSS 5.5 (CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H).
Weakness: CWE-805. Affected Red Hat products: Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10; Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8; Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.
Red Hat does not currently list a fixing RHSA for this CVE.
Affected products named by the advisory: Red Hat package: kernel-rt.
