Summary

A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's BPF (Berkeley Packet Filter) cgroup program handling. Incorrect indexing in the `replace_effective_prog()` and `purge_effective_progs()` functions, particularly when `BPF_F_PREORDER` programs are active, can lead to memory corruption.

This issue can result in overwriting incorrect memory slots or a use-after-free condition, where the system attempts to access memory that has already been deallocated. Red Hat severity: Moderate — CVSS 7 (CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:H/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H).

Weakness: CWE-787. Affected Red Hat products: Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10; Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.

Red Hat does not currently list a fixing RHSA for this CVE.

Affected products named by the advisory: Red Hat package: kernel-rt.
