Summary
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: cxl/region: Fix out-of-bounds access in cxl_cancel_auto_attach() In cxl_cancel_auto_attach(), it assumes cxled->pos is a valid index for accessing p->targets[]. However, cxled->pos can be set to negative errno in cxl_region_sort_targets() if cxl_calc_interleave_pos() fails.
This causes the driver to use a negative index to access p->targets[], resulting in out-of-bounds access. Fix it by walking p->targets[] instead of using cxled->pos directly.
A vulnerability exists in the `cxl_cancel_auto_attach()` function where an invalid negative index can be used to access an array. This out-of-bounds memory access could allow a local attacker to cause system instability or a denial of service (DoS).
Red Hat severity: Moderate — CVSS 5.5 (CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H). Weakness: CWE-1285.
Red Hat lists Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10; Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6; Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7; Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8; Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9 as not affected.
