Summary

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: of/address: Fix NULL bus dereference in of_pci_range_parser_one() The bus matching rework made of_match_bus() return NULL for nodes with ranges/dma-ranges but no local #address-cells. parser_init() stored that NULL bus, and the range iterator later dereferenced it.

Reject such nodes in parser_init(), leaving an explicit empty iterator for callers that ignore the init return, and make of_dma_get_max_cpu_address() honour the init failure so a rejected node cannot clamp the DMA limit. A null pointer dereference vulnerability exists within the `of_pci_range_parser_one()` function.

This occurs when `of_match_bus()` returns a null value for nodes with specific range properties, which is then improperly dereferenced. An attacker could potentially exploit this to prevent a rejected node from clamping the Direct Memory Access (DMA) limit, which may lead to system instability or a denial of service.

Red Hat severity: Moderate — CVSS 5.5 (CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H). Weakness: CWE-476.

Red Hat lists Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10; Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6; Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7; Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8; Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9 as not affected.
