Summary
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: s390/vfio_ccw: Ensure first IDAW remains constant The first IDAW in a list does not need to be on a 2K/4K boundary like all others, and so is read separately to accurately calculate the size of the buffer needed to read the full IDAL.
Verify that the address found in the first IDAW is unchanged between reads, to ensure a consistent set of IDAWs being worked with. This vulnerability arises because the system does not ensure that the address in the first Indirect Data Address Word (IDAW) remains constant between reads.
An attacker could potentially exploit this to cause the system to operate with an inconsistent set of IDAWs, leading to data integrity issues or system instability. Red Hat severity: Moderate — CVSS 5.5 (CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H).
Weakness: CWE-367. Affected Red Hat products: Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10; Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.
Red Hat does not currently list a fixing RHSA for this CVE.
Affected products named by the advisory: Red Hat package: kernel-rt.
