Summary

A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's `io_uring/waitid` component. The `io_waitid_cb()` function, when running from a kernel worker, fails to properly acknowledge task work cancellation.

This oversight causes the `__do_wait()` function to execute within an incorrect task context, which is critical as `waitid` operations are inherently task-context dependent. Consequently, this could lead to unexpected system behavior or issues with process state management.

Red Hat severity: Moderate — CVSS 4.7 (CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:H/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H). Weakness: CWE-663.

Affected Red Hat products: Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform 4. Red Hat does not currently list a fixing RHSA for this CVE.
