Summary

A flaw was found in pnpm, a package manager. An attacker can craft a malicious `pnpm-lock.yaml` file that, when processed by a user running `pnpm install`, allows package contents to be written outside the intended `node_modules` directory.

If the system is configured to allow lifecycle scripts, this path traversal vulnerability can lead to arbitrary code execution with the user's privileges. Red Hat severity: Important — CVSS 7.1 (CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:N/I:H/A:L).

Weakness: CWE-22. Affected Red Hat products: Red Hat AMQ Broker 7; Red Hat Build of Keycloak; Red Hat JBoss Enterprise Application Platform 8; Red Hat JBoss Enterprise Application Platform Expansion Pack.

Red Hat lists Red Hat Hardened Images as not affected. Red Hat does not currently list a fixing RHSA for this CVE.
