Summary

A flaw was found in the MongoDB Python Driver's GridFS component. Improper handling of special characters in file identifiers allows an authenticated user to inject query operators.

This can lead to unauthorized access to stored file content, potentially disclosing sensitive information. Additionally, an attacker could delete all GridFS file chunks, resulting in a denial of service by rendering stored files unreadable.

Red Hat severity: Important — CVSS 8.3 (CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:H/A:H). Weakness: CWE-94.

Affected Red Hat products: Red Hat OpenShift AI (RHOAI); Red Hat OpenStack Platform 16.2; Red Hat OpenStack Platform 17.1. Red Hat does not currently list a fixing RHSA for this CVE.
