Medium [CVE-2023-39192] Kernel: netfilter: xtables out-of-bounds read in u32_match_it
CVE-2023-39192Source published Source updated
A flaw was found in the Netfilter subsystem in the Linux kernel. The xt_u32 module did not validate the fields in the xt_u32 structure. This flaw allows a local privileged attacker to trigger an out-of-bounds read by setting the size fields with a value beyond the array boundaries, leading to a crash or information disclosure. Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9 is not affected by this flaw as the `xt_u32` driver is not built. Red Hat severity: Moderate — CVSS 6.7 (CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:H/UI:N/S:C/C:H/I:N/A:L). Weakness: CWE-125. Will not fix / out of support: Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6; Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7. Red Hat fixing advisory: RHSA-2024:2950, RHSA-2024:3138. Affected products named by the advisory: Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8; Red Hat package: kernel-rt.
