How do I fix CVE-2026-106074?

  • Do not ship or run user-land snapshots or SEAs built with useSnapshot if crypto.randomUUID/randomInt (or APIs that use them) executed during snapshot creation. Rebuild snapshots after upgrading Node.js, and avoid calling those APIs in the snapshot-build phase. Prefer generating security-sensitive nonces and identifiers after process start, outside snapshot initialization. (Red Hat)

Medium [CVE-2026-106074] Node.js Vulnerability in NetApp Products

    NTAP-20261023-0007Source published Source updated

Node.js versions 22.x prior to 22.23.4, 24.x prior to 24.22.1, and 26.x prior to 26.12.1 are susceptible to a vulnerability which when successfully exploited could cause the internal entropy caches used by crypto.randomUUID(), crypto.randomUUIDv7(), and crypto.randomInt() to be saved into user-land startup snapshots (--build-snapshot) and single executable applications built with useSnapshot. Successful exploitation of this vulnerability could lead to disclosure of sensitive information or addition or modification of data. NetApp reports that one or more additional products remain under investigation; review the canonical advisory for current status. NetApp states there is no workaround available at this time.
