CVE-2026-51772Source published Source updated
A Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) vulnerability exists in the Image API (v2) of OpenStack Glance. When the show_multiple_locations configuration option is enabled in glance-api.conf, an authenticated attacker can manipulate the locations attribute of an image in the queued state by sending a crafted HTTP PATCH request This vulnerability allows the attacker to induce the server into making unauthorized network requests to internal or external services, potentially exposing sensitive internal systems. - Mitigation guidance
- Disable the multiple locations feature in the Glance configuration. 1. Edit `/etc/glance/glance-api.conf` to set the option to `False` under the `[DEFAULT]` section: ```ini [DEFAULT] show_multiple_locations = False ``` 2. Restart the Glance API service to apply the change: ```bash systemctl restart openstack-glance-api.service ``` Caveats: Disabling `show_multiple_locations` prevents users from viewing or managing alternate image locations, which may affect specific environments or workflows relying on multi-location image storage. Warning: Restarting the `openstack-glance-api.service` will cause a brief interruption to active Glance API connections and client operations.
