    Medium [CVE-2026-68249] replace BUG_ON with WARN_ON

    CVE-2026-68249Source published Source updated

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/amdgpu/sdma5.0: replace BUG_ON() with WARN_ON() There's no need to crash the kernel for these cases. (cherry picked from commit 8d144a0eb09537055841af48c9e7c2d4cd48e84d) This issue occurs when certain conditions trigger a `BUG_ON()` macro, which is designed to halt system execution upon detecting a critical error. A local attacker could exploit this to cause a kernel crash, leading to a denial of service (DoS) by making the system unavailable. This issue affects AMDGPU SDMA 5.0. Certain error paths used BUG_ON(), forcing kernel panic. A local user exercising those GPU paths could trigger denial of service. Systems without AMD GPUs are not affected.
