Medium [CVE-2024-0443] blkio memory leakage due to blkcg and some blkgs are not freed after they are made offline.

A flaw was found in the blkgs destruction path in block/blk-cgroup.c in the Linux kernel, leading to a cgroup blkio memory leakage problem. When a cgroup is being destroyed, cgroup_rstat_flush() is only called at css_release_work_fn(), which is called when the blkcg reference count reaches 0. This circular dependency will prevent blkcg and some blkgs from being freed after they are made offline. This issue may allow an attacker with a local access to cause system instability, such as an out of memory error. This flaw affects RHEL 8.6 and above, and RHEL9.2 and above. Released kernel streamers only. Red Hat severity: Moderate — CVSS 5.5 (CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H). Weakness: CWE-402. Affected Red Hat products: Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8; Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.2 Extended Update Support; Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9. Red Hat lists Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6; Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 as not affected. Red Hat fixing advisory: RHSA-2023:7077, RHSA-2023:7370. High [CVE-2023-6546] gsm multiplexing race condition leads to privilege escalation

A race condition was found in the GSM 0710 tty multiplexor in the Linux kernel. This issue occurs when two threads execute the GSMIOC_SETCONF ioctl on the same tty file descriptor with the gsm line discipline enabled, and can lead to a use-after-free problem on a struct gsm_dlci while restarting the gsm mux. This could allow a local unprivileged user to escalate their privileges on the system. High [CVE-2023-42753] potential slab-out-of-bound access due to integer underflow

An array indexing vulnerability was found in the netfilter subsystem of the Linux kernel. A missing macro could lead to a miscalculation of the `h->nets` array offset, providing attackers with the primitive to arbitrarily increment/decrement a memory buffer out-of-bound. This issue may allow a local user to crash the system or potentially escalate their privileges on the system. Affected products named by the advisory: Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7; Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.7 Advanced Update Support; Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8; Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.2 Advanced Update Support; and 11 more. Affected products named by the advisory: Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.2 Telecommunications Update Service; Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.2 Update Services for SAP Solutions; Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.4 Advanced Mission Critical Update Support; Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.4 Telecommunications Update Service; and 6 more.

High [CVE-2023-0597 +1] a per-cpu entry area leak was identified through the init_cea_offsets function when prefetchnta and prefetcht2 instructions being used for the per-cpu entry area mapping to the user space

A possible unauthorized memory access flaw was found in the Linux kernel's cpu_entry_area mapping of X86 CPU data to memory, where a user may guess the location of exception stacks or other important data. Based on the previous CVE-2023-0597, the 'Randomize per-cpu entry area' feature was implemented in /arch/x86/mm/cpu_entry_area.c, which works through the init_cea_offsets() function when KASLR is enabled. However, despite this feature, there is still a risk of per-cpu entry area leaks. This issue could allow a local user to gain access to some important data with memory in an expected location and potentially escalate their privileges on the system. For the Red Hat Enterprise Linux the previous fix for the CVE-2023-0597 that is already included actually prevents described attack vector for this CVE-2023-3640 too. Red Hat severity: Moderate — CVSS 7 (CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:H/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H). Weakness: CWE-385. Affected Red Hat products: Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8; Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9. Will not fix / out of support: Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8. Red Hat does not currently list a fixing RHSA for this CVE. Affected products named by the advisory: Red Hat package: kernel-rt.

High [CVE-2023-2008] improper validation of array index leading to local privilege escalation

A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's udmabuf device driver, within a fault handler. This issue occurs due to the lack of proper validation of user-supplied data, which can result in memory access past the end of an array. This may allow an attacker to escalate privileges and execute arbitrary code in the context of the kernel. Affected products named by the advisory: Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9; Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.0 Extended Update Support.

A slab-out-of-bound read problem was found in brcmf_get_assoc_ies in drivers/net/wireless/broadcom/brcm80211/brcmfmac/cfg80211.c in the Linux Kernel. This issue could occur when assoc_info->req_len data is bigger than the size of the buffer, defined as WL_EXTRA_BUF_MAX, leading to a denial of service. Red Hat severity: Moderate — CVSS 7.1 (CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:H). Weakness: CWE-125. Affected Red Hat products: Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7; Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8; Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9. Will not fix / out of support: Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7. Red Hat does not currently list a fixing RHSA for this CVE. Affected products named by the advisory: Red Hat package: kernel-rt.

Medium [CVE-2018-13405 +1] security regression for CVE-2018-13405

A vulnerability was found in the fs/inode.c:inode_init_owner() function logic of the LInux kernel that allows local users to create files for the XFS file-system with an unintended group ownership and with group execution and SGID permission bits set, in a scenario where a directory is SGID and belongs to a certain group and is writable by a user who is not a member of this group. This can lead to excessive permissions granted in case when they should not. This vulnerability is similar to the previous CVE-2018-13405 and adds the missed fix for the XFS. Affected products named by the advisory: Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8; Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.4 Extended Update Support.

A flaw in the processing of received ICMP errors (ICMP fragment needed and ICMP redirect) in the Linux kernel functionality was found to allow the ability to quickly scan open UDP ports. This flaw allows an off-path remote user to effectively bypass the source port UDP randomization. The highest threat from this vulnerability is to confidentiality and possibly integrity, because software that relies on UDP source port randomization are indirectly affected as well. This issue is rated as having Moderate impact because of the attack scenario limitation. It is possible to harm the networking services only, but not for the overall system under attack, and impossible to get access to this remote system under attack. Red Hat severity: Moderate — CVSS 7.4 (CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:N). Weakness: CWE-330. Affected Red Hat products: Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8; Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.4 Extended Update Support; Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5; Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6; Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7. Red Hat lists Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9 as not affected. Will not fix / out of support: Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5; Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6; Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7. Red Hat fixing advisory: RHSA-2022:1975, RHSA-2022:1988, RHSA-2022:4835, RHSA-2022:4829. Affected products named by the advisory: Red Hat package: kernel-rt.
