Summary

A vulnerability in the web-based management interface of Cisco Industrial Ethernet (IE) 1000 Series Switches could allow an authenticated, remote attacker to conduct a stored cross-site scripting (XSS) attack against a user of the interface.

This vulnerability is due to insufficient validation of user-supplied input by the web-based management interface of an affected system. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by injecting malicious code into specific pages of the interface.

A successful exploit could allow the attacker to execute arbitrary script code in the context of another user. To exploit this vulnerability, the attacker must have valid user credentials on the affected system.

Cisco has released software updates that address this vulnerability. There are no workarounds that address this vulnerability.
