Summary

A flaw was found in libxml2's xinclude processing. The xmlXIncludeProcess and xmlXIncludeProcessTree functions fail to propagate parseFlags, such as XML_PARSE_NONET.

This oversight can allow a custom resource loader to access external internet resources, potentially leading to XML external entity (XXE) injection, Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF), or a denial of service (DoS) if an attacker controls the external resource. Red Hat severity: Moderate — CVSS 5.6 (CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:L).

Weakness: CWE-611. Affected Red Hat products: Red Hat Hardened Images.

Red Hat does not currently list a fixing RHSA for this CVE.
