Critical [CVE-2026-14457 +7] August 2026 FreeBSD OpenSSL Vulnerabilities in NetApp Products

    NTAP-20260903-0001Source published Source updated

This bulletin covers 8 CVEs. The products, versions, score and guidance below describe the bulletin; check its source for applicability to this specific CVE.

All supported versions of FreeBSD prior to 15.1-RELEASE-p3, 15.0-RELEASE-p13, and 14.4-RELEASE-p9 are susceptible to vulnerabilities in OpenSSL which when successfully exploited could lead to impacts ranging from a Denial of Service (DoS) to a potential remote code execution. Successful exploitation of these vulnerabilities could lead to disclosure of sensitive information, addition or modification of data, or Denial of Service (DoS). NetApp states there is no workaround available at this time.

High [CVE-2026-54874] OpenSSL Vulnerability in NetApp Products

    NTAP-20260902-0005Source published Source updated

OpenSSL versions 4.0, 3.6, 3.5, 3.4, 3.0, 1.1.1 and 1.0.2 are susceptible to a vulnerability which when successfully exploited could allow a peer to use a small amount of network traffic to make an OpenSSL DTLS endpoint retain a disproportionately large amount of memory, which may lead to a Denial of Service (DoS). Successful exploitation of this vulnerability could lead to Denial of Service (DoS). NetApp reports that one or more additional products remain under investigation; review the canonical advisory for current status. NetApp states there is no workaround available at this time.

High [CVE-2026-54874] excessive memory use buffering DTLS records for a future epoch

    CVE-2026-54874Source published Source updated

Issue summary: Receiving a DTLS record for a future epoch while a handshake is in progress causes OpenSSL to buffer far more memory than the record itself requires. Impact summary: A peer can use a small amount of network traffic to make an OpenSSL DTLS endpoint retain a disproportionately large amount of memory, which may lead to a Denial of Service. CWE: CWE-405: Asymmetric Resource Consumption (Amplification) Description: While a DTLS handshake is in progress, a peer may legitimately have already moved on to the next epoch (for example, having sent its ChangeCipherSpec and Finished messages) before the local endpoint has processed the same transition, typically because of reordering on the underlying UDP transport. OpenSSL buffers such early records so that they can be processed once…
