ISC BIND versions 9.11.0 through 9.18.50, 9.20.0 through 9.20.27 and 9.21.0 through 9.21.25 are susceptible to a vulnerability which when successfully exploited could lead to named consuming memory beyond the configured limits. Successful exploitation of this vulnerability could lead to Denial of Service (DoS). - To mitigate this issue, restrict network access to the BIND `named` service to only trusted clients and networks. Implement firewall rules to limit incoming UDP/TCP port 53 traffic to known, legitimate sources. This reduces the attack surface by preventing untrusted external entities from sending crafted query responses.
