Medium [CVE-2020-12265 +1] path traversal via indexOf containment bypass allows arbitrary file write (bypass of CVE-2020-12265 fix)

decompress before 4.2.2 contains an improper path containment check that enables directory traversal and arbitrary file write. The safeMakeDir function (index.js line 29) and the extraction path validation (index.js line 106) use String.indexOf() to verify the resolved path is within the output directory: realDestinationDir.indexOf(realOutputPath)!== 0. This check is flawed because it does not enforce a path separator boundary. For example, "/tmp/app_config".indexOf("/tmp/app") returns 0, incorrectly passing the check even though /tmp/app_config is outside /tmp/app. Combined with the unvalidated symlink creation in the same package, an attacker can write arbitrary files to directories adjacent to the extraction target. This is a bypass of the fix for CVE-2020-12265. The correct check requires appending a path separator: realParentPath.indexOf(realOutputPath + path.sep)!== 0. A flaw was found in the `decompress` component. Red Hat's assessment aligns with the CVSSv3.1 base score of 6.2 (Moderate) published by CVE.org/CISA for this issue. The vulnerable safeMakeDir/indexOf path-containment check described in this CVE exists only in decompress 4.2.1, the final release that addressed the earlier CVE-2020-12265 path traversal issue. Affected products named by the advisory: Red Hat Hardened Images; Red Hat Build of Keycloak.

Medium [CVE-2026-59921] CRLF Injection via Multipart Filename in Netty HttpPostRequestEncoder

Netty is an asynchronous, event-driven network application framework. Prior to versions 4.1.136.Final and 4.2.16.Final, HttpPostRequestEncoder constructs multipart HTTP request bodies by directly concatenating user-supplied filenames and field names into Content-Disposition MIME headers without validating or sanitizing CRLF characters (\r\n). Since MIME headers are delimited by CRLF, an attacker who controls the filename can inject arbitrary MIME headers into the multipart body part. The root cause is that neither the encoder nor the FileUpload implementations' setFilename() methods, which only check for null, neutralize CRLF characters before the filename is embedded into the header. A flaw was found in Netty's HttpPostRequestEncoder, a widely used Java networking library component responsible for constructing multipart HTTP request bodies. This may lead to limited Content-Type spoofing or header manipulation against middleware or storage layers processing the request, though the practical impact is constrained by the context in which Netty is deployed. Moderate: A CRLF injection flaw in the Netty Java networking library's multipart message encoder allows remote attackers with low privileges to inject arbitrary MIME headers.

Medium [CVE-2026-56821] Improper certificate revocation check in netty-handler-ssl-ocsp

Netty is an asynchronous, event-driven network application framework. Prior to versions 4.1.136.Final and 4.2.16.Final, the OcspServerCertificateValidator flags an out-of-date OCSP response but does not stop processing it, so an expired GOOD response is still reported as VALID, letting an on-path attacker replay a stale GOOD response to bypass revocation of a since-revoked certificate. Any application using OcspServerCertificateValidator is affected; a revoked certificate can be accepted. A flaw was found in netty-handler-ssl-ocsp, a component of the Netty network application framework. The Online Certificate Status Protocol (OCSP) stapling validator in this component does not properly check certificate revocation status. This can allow an attacker to use revoked certificates without detection, potentially compromising secure communications. Red Hat severity: Moderate — CVSS 5.7 (CVSS:3.1/AV:A/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:H/A:N). Weakness: CWE-93. Affected Red Hat products: Red Hat build of Apache Camel for Spring Boot 4; Red Hat Data Grid 8; Red Hat JBoss Enterprise Application Platform Expansion Pack. Red Hat does not currently list a fixing RHSA for this CVE.

Medium [CVE-2026-59898] Protocol version confusion in netty-codec-http (WebSocket)

Netty is an asynchronous, event-driven network application framework. Prior to versions 4.1.136.Final and 4.2.16.Final, ab attacker can force WebSocket upgrade via the lax V07 (or V08) handshaker by sending `Sec-WebSocket-Version: 7` and omitting `Connection: Upgrade` / `Upgrade: websocket` headers, completing a protocol switch that a proxy would not recognize as an Upgrade request and enabling HTTP request smuggling / protocol-confusion attacks. A flaw was found in netty-codec-http. The WebSocket handshaker in this component fails to properly validate protocol version information during the WebSocket upgrade process. A remote attacker can exploit this vulnerability by manipulating the WebSocket handshake, leading to a bypass of security checks or the negotiation of unexpected protocol versions. This could potentially enable protocol-level attacks. Red Hat severity: Moderate — CVSS 5.3 (CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:N/A:N). Weakness: CWE-358. Affected products named by the advisory: Red Hat build of Quarkus 3.27.4.SP3; Red Hat build of Quarkus 3.33.2.SP3; Cryostat 4; OpenShift Serverless; and 19 more.

Medium [CVE-2026-59900] Improper header neutralization in netty-codec-http2

Netty is an asynchronous, event-driven network application framework. Prior to versions 4.1.136.Final and 4.2.16.Final, Netty's HTTP/2-to-HTTP/1.x translation layer (`Http2StreamFrameToHttpObjectCodec` and `InboundHttp2ToHttpAdapter`) fails to deduplicate or validate `Host` headers when an HTTP/2 client supplies both the `:authority` pseudo-header and a literal `host` header in a single HEADERS frame. The translator maps `:authority` to `Host` and separately copies the literal `host` header, producing an `HttpRequest` object containing two `Host` headers with attacker-controlled differing values. A flaw was found in Netty's netty-codec-http2 component. The HTTP/2 encoder does not properly handle special characters in HTTP headers. This vulnerability allows a remote attacker to craft specific HTTP/2 requests, leading to HTTP response splitting and header injection attacks. Such attacks can enable an attacker to manipulate web content or inject malicious headers. Red Hat severity: Moderate — CVSS 6.5 (CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:H/A:N). Weakness: CWE-113. Affected products named by the advisory: Red Hat build of Quarkus 3.27.4.SP3; Red Hat build of Quarkus 3.33.2.SP3; Cryostat 4; OpenShift Serverless; and 16 more.

Medium [CVE-2026-59919] Improper CR/LF neutralization in netty-codec-haproxy

Netty is an asynchronous, event-driven network application framework. In versions prior to 4.1.136.Final and 4.2.16.Final, Netty's HAProxy encoder ( HAProxyMessageEncoder ) writes AF_UNIX source and destination socket addresses into the HAProxy V1 text protocol without validating them for CRLF characters, so an attacker who controls an AF_UNIX address can inject \r\n sequences and split the single PROXY header into multiple lines. This is possible because the V1 protocol uses CRLF as its line terminator and, unlike IPv4/IPv6 addresses whose format checks implicitly reject CRLF, AF_UNIX addresses are only validated for length (up to 108 bytes), allowing a forged second PROXY header line that spoofs the client source/destination IP to a downstream server or load balancer. A flaw was found in the netty-codec-haproxy component, part of the Netty network application framework. This vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform protocol-level injection attacks by crafting malformed HAProxy protocol frames that contain embedded carriage return (CR) and line feed (LF) sequences. This can lead to the injection of arbitrary content, potentially disrupting network communication or enabling further attacks. This Moderate flaw in `netty-codec-haproxy` allows for protocol-level injection attacks due to improper neutralization of CR/LF sequences.

Medium [CVE-2026-59920] Improper CR/LF neutralization in netty-codec-stomp

Netty is an asynchronous, event-driven network application framework. In versions prior to 4.1.136.Final and 4.2.16.Final, Netty's STOMP encoder ( StompSubframeEncoder ) does not escape or validate header values in CONNECT and CONNECTED frames, so raw newline ( \n ) characters in a header value are written directly to the wire, allowing an attacker who controls a header value to inject additional STOMP headers. This happens because the encoder intentionally skips escaping for CONNECT/CONNECTED frames per the STOMP 1.2 specification but never rejects the raw newlines, and since a broker parses each line as a separate header, an attacker controlling a value such as a user-supplied login or passcode can overwrite connection parameters or add authentication/role headers to bypass authentication or escalate privileges (the actual impact is broker-dependent). A flaw was found in the Netty STOMP (Streaming Text Oriented Messaging Protocol) decoder. This vulnerability allows a remote attacker to inject arbitrary protocol frames by crafting malformed STOMP commands that contain embedded carriage return (CR) and line feed (LF) sequences. This bypasses message boundary checks and can lead to command injection, potentially compromising the integrity of the system. Red Hat severity: Moderate — CVSS 6.5 (CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:H/A:N). Weakness: CWE-93.

Medium [CVE-2026-39243] File disclosure and corruption via arbitrary hardlink creation

decompress before 4.2.2 allows arbitrary hardlink creation during archive extraction, enabling file read disclosure and file corruption. When processing hardlink entries (type === 'link'), the x.linkname field from the archive is passed directly to fs.link() without validation (index.js line 113). An attacker can craft an archive with a hardlink entry whose linkname is an absolute path to any file on the same filesystem. This creates a hardlink inside the extraction directory that shares the same inode as the target file, enabling both reading and overwriting the original file's content. Hardlinks are limited to files on the same filesystem and cannot target directories. A flaw was found in decompress. An attacker can craft a malicious archive that, when extracted, allows for arbitrary hardlink creation. This could lead to sensitive file read disclosure or file corruption on the system. This Moderate flaw in the `decompress` library allows an attacker to create arbitrary hardlinks during archive extraction. By crafting a malicious archive, an attacker could exploit this to disclose sensitive file contents or corrupt files on the same filesystem where the archive is extracted. This risk is present in Red Hat products that utilize the `decompress` library for archive handling.

Critical [CVE-2026-44024] Remote Code Execution via arbitrary file write due to insufficient tag validation

Fluentd collects events from various data sources and writes them to files, RDBMS, NoSQL, IaaS, SaaS, Hadoop and so on. Prior to 1.19.3, Fluentd allows dynamically constructing file paths using the ${tag} placeholder, and insufficient validation of ${tag} in file configurations such as the path parameter of the out_file plugin allows attackers sending untrusted tags containing path traversal characters to write or overwrite arbitrary files and potentially achieve remote code execution. This issue is fixed in version 1.19.3. A flaw was found in Fluentd, a data collector. Successful exploitation could lead to a full system compromise without authentication, depending on the Fluentd configuration and its process privileges. Red Hat has determined that no Red Hat product is currently affected by this vulnerability. Exploitation requires a Fluentd deployment configured with an output plugin, such as out_file, that constructs file paths dynamically from the ${tag} placeholder, combined with the ability for an attacker to submit untrusted, attacker-influenced tags to that Fluentd instance (for example, via an exposed forward or HTTP input). Deployments that do not accept externally influenced tags, or that do not use tag-based dynamic path construction in output plugin configuration, are not exposed to this issue in practice.
